A slightly sour hot drink, loaded with vitamin C, making this a great way to heat yourself on a cold winter day.
- 1 lemon
- 3 oranges
- 1 grapefruit
- 2 tsp honey
Makes 2 glasses or 1 very large mug
Squeeze the lemon, oranges and grapefruit to get as much juice as possible (you actually get more juice if you cut the citrus fruits 0.5cm from the center on both sides, making 2 shallow rounds and a middle slice. This way you cut through a lot of juice pockets. Believe it or not, I learned this in the Amazonian Jungle, in a camp in the jungle without electricity or running water). You should be able to get at least 400ml. Ok, I realise this is very dependent on the size of your citrus fruit. A bit more or less is no problem, just adjust the honey you add. Do not add extra lemon or grapefruit juice as this would make your drink too sour.
Heat the juice with the honey (add more honey if you find it necessary, I like it a bit sour). Serve piping hot.
