Peanutbutter Pulled Taffy

If you are looking for a quick, simple, lazy recipe, move along. Although it takes a bit more work taffy is really not difficult and it is SO much fun to make. Taffy is pulled to be aerated and then pulled into strips which are cut to length.

Ingredients:

  • 320gr glucose syrup
  • 220gr muscovado sugar
  • 250gr condensed sweetened milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 315gr peanutbutter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Makes approx. 75 pieces

Recipe:

Combine the glucose, sugar, condensed milk and salt in a saucepan. While stirring, heat to 116°C.
Take the pan off the heat and stir in the peanutbutter and vanilla.
Spread on a baking tray and leave to cool for an hour.

Stretch the taffy by pulling and folding back over itself over and over again. It will become easier to stretch as you go.
Once it has been sufficiently aerated, pull it into ropes and cut them with oiled scissors.
Wrap immediately.
