Potato Gratin (BC)

Warm and comforting, potato gratin is one of the simple pleasures in life. This recipe is very easy, with limited ingredients, but delicious none the less. I use a combination of Gorgonzola and grated cheese. Should you dislike Gorgonzola, leave it out.

Ingredients:

  • 300gr floury potatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 125ml cooking cream, 15% fat
  • 3 tbs grated cheese
  • 2 tbs Gorgonzola cheese
  • salt/pepper

Serves 1 as part of the Budget Challenge

Recipe:

Cut the potatoes into 5mm slices, then steam or boil them until cooked. I place them in a steaming tub in the microwave for 5 minutes.
Slice the garlic. Drain any water off the potatoes and layer them in an ovenproof dish with the garlic inbetween slices. Season with salt and peppers, then pour the cream over the slices, which will mix in with the seasoning and drip between the potato slices. Top with the Gorgonzola and grated cheese.
Place in a 200°C oven for 25 minutes or until brown and bubbling.
