Smacked Cucumber Salad (BC)

When cutting cucumber into slices, the surface is very slippery. By smacking cucumber, a rougher surface is created, which allows for better mixing of the salad flavours. Plus, it is much more fun to beat the life out of a cucumber with a wooden spoon…

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cucumber
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 clove of garlic, pressed
  • 1 small shallot, chopped finely
  • 1/4th tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp vinegar (preferably brown Chinese vinegar)
  • 1 tsp sunflower oil
  • 1/4th tsp ground chili pepper
  • ground pepper
